Galaxy Lithium is a development and mining company. The parent company, Allkem (located in Argentina), recently merged with Livent to become one of the world’s leading lithium companies, Arcadian Lithium.
With rapid expansion due to growing global demand for lithium, the Montreal office, which is the base for the James Bay site, needed to be expanded to accommodate the new employees.
The project had to be completed on a tight design and construction schedule. Close collaboration with the customer enabled us to achieve this objective in around 8 months, including furniture installation and employee relocation.
The Buenos Aires offices inspired our design approach, a rather masculine atmosphere with sober lines and contrasting finishes. It was important for the client to have continuity across the different sites, while adding a unique touch for the Montreal office. The Allkem logo guided our concept. The triangular shape (A) is reflected in the carpet pattern, the wall sconces and the architectural details of the ceiling trims.
The configuration of the space allowed us to divide the layout in two, with a central block over the reception area. This core contains the closed offices, leaving a maximum of natural light, which is limited, to the open areas given the triangular shape of the room. The use of contrasting textures, colours and materials creates a chic, sophisticated atmosphere.
