Reaching the end of its lease, the Syndicat professionnel des ingénieurs d’Hydro-Québec decided to acquire its own offices by purchasing commercial condo units. The goal was to have new, up-to-date, sober and depersonalized offices with a small residential feel.
The initial idea was inspired from the space itself. With ceilings over 14 feet high, exposed structure and well-preserved raw materials, the concept of large open spaces had won us over. By adding natural elements such as walnut wood, and inserting lines in the background that remind us of electric pylons (a wink of an eye to the SPIHQ), everything was in place to create a work environment where a sense of freedom and grandeur was present.
The new premises were also intended to allow the holding of trade-union councils several times a year. A large conference room that can accommodate more than 50 people, in addition to a cafeteria/lounge area with a cozy and friendly atmosphere, allows employees, staff and union activists to build relationships, develop synergies and stimulate creativity.
