Les Ordres

The OPQ (Ordre des podiatres du Québec), OPTMQ (Ordre professionnel des technologues médicaux du Québec) and OEAQ (Ordre des évaluateurs agréés du Québec) are organizations whose mission is to protect the public by regulating and monitoring the practice of their professions.

The aim of grouping these three corporations was to share common spaces, thereby offering a greater choice of premises, while reducing the surface area required compared to that of separate offices for each corporation.

Right from the start of the pre-leasing studies, support was provided to find a building that met the geographical and space division requirements specific to each organization. The building located 1050 Beaver Hall was chosen because of its location and the almost square shape of the building, offering excellent subdivision possibilities in all four corners.

Grouping the three corporations created two shared common areas: the reception and meeting area, and the library-cafeteria. The remaining areas, located at each corner of the building, were designed according to the specific needs of each corporation. A neutral color palette, featuring shades of dark gray and navy, along with light wood accents, helped to create a cohesive environment across the spaces despite the diverse range of furniture styles.

At the entrance, the concrete reception desk stands out against the wooden wall sconces. The concealed catering unit and the banquette area occasionally host events such as training sessions or casual happy hours. However, the focal point of the project is the living area: the library-cafeteria. This gathering space, conducive to the sharing of resources and knowledge, primarily encourages interaction between the three corporations.

Accent lighting on the walls of the banquette area, above the island and in the reading nook, guides users through the space. The addition of moss provides the finishing touch to a relaxing, biophilic environment.
