Tacora is an engineering firm specializing in the processing and mining of ore, more specifically iron ore. Renowned in their field of expertise, Tacora services several clients around the world sustainably and innovatively.
Looking for a new office on the South Shore of Montreal, Tacoma mandated Conceptum to design their office space. Tacoma chose to move to the new Dix30 Solar district, which offers access to many services in the area. The fully glazed building also allows for a lot of light inside the office.
Upon entering, Tacoma’s core business is highlighted by a glass display in wood tones, designed to showcase and feature the ore. The use of a subdued color scheme enhanced by a bright orange color makes you want to discover the informal meeting areas: the living room and the kitchen. The entrance to the office and the kitchen are also noteworthy given the charcoal grey ceiling that contrasts with the orange living room.
A centrally located conference room also separates the open-concept area from the kitchen and living room. The workspace is divided between a large open area and closed offices. Desks are not assigned so that employees can choose the desk that suits them best according to their tasks.
A stylized mural depicting ore runs the length of the open-concept area and adds character to the space. The mural, continuing on either side of the glass wall, creates a play of reflections that enlarges the space.
